What is the format of the ICBC card number?

The card number format of ICBC cards is divided into two types: debit card and credit card. The following is a detailed description:

Deposit cards are usually 19 digits, and the beginning of the card number has a specific identification: the card number starting with 955880, 955881, 955882, 622200 or 622202 is a smart card or E-era card. If the card number starts with 955888, 622208 or 621288, it may be a Gold Management Card or an ICBC Wealth Management Gold Card.

Credit card numbers are usually shorter, 14-16 digits, starting with the numbers 3, 4, 5 or 6 (except for international debit cards).

To apply for a debit card, users need to bring their valid identity documents to any ICBC branch to apply, and the staff will confirm their identity by phone or text message. It is worth noting that each user cannot open more than 4 ICBC savings cards nationwide, and qualified users can apply for wealth management gold cards. A minimum cost of RMB 5 will be charged for applying for a new card.

The above information comes from ICBC’s official bank card type judgment method and debit card application guide. For specific operations, please refer to the instructions at the bank counter.
