Fubon Bank is a Taiwan-funded bank and currently the only Taiwan-funded bank. It is a wholly-owned subsidiary bank of Fubon Financial Holdings Group in mainland China. Fubon Huayi Bank, the predecessor of Fubon Huayi Bank, was the first commercial bank jointly funded by banks from both sides of the Taiwan Strait. It was established in Shanghai on March 20, 1997. In April 2014, it was approved by the China Banking Regulatory Commission to officially change its name to Fubon Huayi Bank Co., Ltd. and began to open branches and branches. In May 2019, Fubon Huayi Bank received approval from the Shanghai Regulatory Bureau to establish a credit card business and officially began to issue credit cards.
