Generally speaking, if a credit card is not activated, it will be cancelled in about one year. However, due to the differences among banks, ordinary cards and platinum cards, some credit cards may still generate annual fees even if they are not activated. Generally, this is concentrated on platinum cards and gold diamond cards.
The safer way is to call customer service to cancel the card and then cut it. If you don't use the card within 45 days, the card will be cancelled, but please remember: if you cancel any type of credit card, you can't apply for this type of card in the future.
