Successful account opening means that your credit card has been successfully applied for. Because generally the credit card approval and card issuance belong to different departments, and some departments are not in the same area, so even if the application has been approved , card printing and shipping usually take about 2 weeks to complete. Some banks have to activate the credit card before the card is opened. Some banks will count the card opening as successful if approved.
As for whether to charge an annual fee, each bank has different standards. First of all, it depends on which bank and which card type. Some card types will waive the annual fee (business cards, etc.) or waive the annual fee with conditions (how many transactions are made to waive the annual fee, how many days after opening the card, etc.), and some card types will continue to charge regardless of the conditions. No reduction or exemption will be granted.
However, the vast majority of bank cards will only start collecting annual fees after they are successfully activated. There are also some banks that will be deemed to have been activated and start collecting cumulative fees after the cards are successfully issued.
I once encountered such a deal. I helped someone complete a task and told me that there was no annual fee for opening a card within 30 days because it happened to be the end of the year. However, before I could activate it, a bill of 300 yuan came. I was told it was an annual fee, which made me crazy at the time. I called customer service directly to offset it and then canceled it.
