Is credit card protection only a temporary card lock?

No, there are two protection methods:

Temporary card lock over limit

This type of card lock refers to three consecutive incorrect passwords, and the card issuer will temporarily freeze the card. You cannot use a credit card to make any transactions, but if it exceeds 24 hours, this type of card lock will automatically unlock. Therefore, if you encounter such a situation, the credit card password temporarily exceeds the limit, and you only need to wait until the next day to make transactions.

Over-limit permanent card lock

This type of card lock means that the credit card password is accumulated 10 times or more in a row, and the card is permanently locked. Once permanently locked, the card cannot be unlocked automatically. The cardholder can call the credit card service hotline of the card issuer and go to the manual service window, or go to the counter to unlock it. Counter unlocking is relatively troublesome. Cardholders need to hold a valid ID card, credit card and other information and go to the counter of the card-issuing bank's branch to apply for counter unlocking. Once successful, the card can be unlocked on the same day.
