A credit card needs to go through this process from application to reaching the customer. The applicant first selects the card type to apply for and reads and agrees to the application agreement, then fills in the card application form and submits the relevant information to the bank. Identity information and copies, the bank will send the materials to the credit card center. The card center will conduct a customer identity review on the applicant. Once passed, the card production data file will be generated and sent to the card production center to complete the credit card production. Customers can get their own cards only after the card issuance is completed through the post office.

Credit cards can be activated in the following three ways:

Method 1: Activate at the ICBC counter

After receiving the credit card, you can bring your valid ID and credit card Please go to the counter of the local ICBC branch with the password letter to open the card. If you pick up the card at the local ICBC Credit Card Center (not by mail), you can open the card on the spot.

Editor’s tip: This method can only be used to issue a credit card at the local ICBC counter where the credit card is applied for, and cannot be issued at branches in other places.

Method 2: Activate ICBC Online Banking

Log in to personal online banking from the official website of ICBC (www.icbc.com.cn) and enter "Bank Card Services" Peony Card activated". Enter the card number, card validity period, cardholder name, ID number and other relevant information and click the Confirm button. Finally, set the credit card password and confirm to complete the ICBC Peony Credit Card opening.

Method 3: Self-service activation via ICBC customer service hotline

Cardholders use the phone number and mobile phone number they filled in when applying for a credit card to access the ICBC customer service hotline to open the card. Dial: 95588 and dial "6" for international card services. Select the required service language according to the voice prompts and press "3" to enter ICBC credit card services. Then press "2" to enter "Card Activation". Follow the voice prompts to enter your credit card number, valid certificate (ID card) number and other personal information. After completing the identity verification, you can successfully open the card. After opening the card, you can set a consumption password.
