When I go shopping in Hong Kong, do I need to pay any fees when I use my China Merchants Bank VISA credit card? And how is the exchange rate calculated?

Hello, our credit card can be used for normal consumption in Hong Kong. Currently, there are two basic card payment lines in Hong Kong, UnionPay lines and international lines (VISA, MASTERCARD, JCB or American Express, etc.). When swiping a card on a UnionPay line, there is no additional handling fee. Hong Kong dollars will be converted into RMB for settlement according to the exchange rate of "China UnionPay"; when a card is swiped on an international line, the settlement will be in US dollars. Since overseas consumption by credit card will be settled in U.S. dollars, if the consumption amount is non-U.S. dollars, there will be an exchange fee between the two currencies, which is 1.5 of the transaction amount. If the consumption amount is in US dollars, there will be no foreign exchange settlement fee. When making purchases, you can ask the merchant whether there is a UnionPay credit card line to facilitate your choice.
