Basic Overview
Coqin County is located in central and western Tibet, southeast of Ngari Prefecture, and north of the middle section of the Gangdise Mountains. It covers an area of ??22,388 square kilometers. Cuoqin County has vast grasslands and is a pastoral county. Physical Geography

The county is located in the Great Lakes Basin of the Qiangtang Plateau, with plateau hilly and plateau wide beach landforms. The mountains in the county are undulating. Most of the mountains run east-west and are high on all sides. The central part is a basin and lowland of lakes. The county has vast grasslands, many rivers and lakes, and it is a purely animal husbandry county.
Zharinam Co Swamp
The swamp is located to the west and east of Zharinam Co in Tsole County, Tibet Autonomous Region. The geographical coordinates are 30°51 North Latitude respectively. ′—31°00′, 85°09′—85°19′ east longitude and 30°55′—31°00′ east longitude, and 85°53′—86°07′ east longitude. The area is _27000_hm, and it is a swamp type dominated by Song grass in northern Tibet. The altitude is 4615-4630m. The comprehensive natural division of the location belongs to the Nyainqentanglha Mountain area in the alpine grassland zone (semi-arid) of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau.
Zhari Namtso is one of the large saltwater lakes in the Tibet Autonomous Region, with an area of ??100,000hm and an altitude of 4,613m.
There are Balingangri Mountain to the north of the lake, Labjun Mountain to the southwest, and mountains to the east that separate Dangra Yumco. Many rivers originating from the mountains in the north, west and south flow into the lake. Among them, Tsole Zangbo has a long history and gathers many tributaries on the north side of the Gangdise Mountains. The water volume increases greatly. It turns eastward near Tsole County and flows into Zharinam Co. Therefore, this river is an important part of Zharinam Co. Replenish water source. A large swamp wetland has developed in the river entrance area to the west of the lake. In addition, swamps also developed in the small lake area to the east of the lake. Water supply is mainly river water and lake water.
The soil is mainly meadow swamp soil and peat swamp soil.
The vegetation type in the swamp is mainly a community dominated by Northern Tibetan Songgrass, accompanied by Sinophylla sinensis, Sea Leek, Carex paris, Dwarf grass, Siberian Polygonum, and Artemisia zebra. etc.; the surrounding slightly higher terrain is a plateau meadow, with Pamir grass as the dominant species. Birds in the swamp area include gulls, ducks, bar-headed geese, snipe, black-necked cranes, swans, etc. The fish in the lake are mainly Schizothorax.
There are no protection measures for swamp wetlands. The land use is mainly grazing or mowing fields.
There is Kangqiongtongri Mountain in the west, Gangdise Mountains in the southwest, Labqiong Mountain in the east, Malubuzha Mountain in the southwest, with an altitude of 6036 meters; Mubu Mountain in the east , with an altitude of 5092 meters; in the southeast there is Pujie Mountain, with an altitude of 6045 meters, and "Queze Yaguza Mountain" with an altitude of 6042 meters.
In the central part, there is the Cuoqin Zangbo River, which flows first from north to south and then from east to west. Its branch canals, ditches and streams flow in the north and south directions; in the northeast, there is the Xiongqu Zangbo River, which flows from east to west; in the southeast, there is the northeast, which flows in the southwest direction. The Dori Zangbo River. There are Dawacuo Lake, Chajicuo Lake, and Honggecuo Lake in the north; Dibucuo Lake and Garenco Lake in the west; Jiessacuo Lake in the southwest; and Zharinanmuco Lake in the central and eastern part.
The Cuoqin Zangbo River in the central part flows first from north to south and then east-west, and the Xiongqu Zangbo River in the northeast flows from east to west. There are many lakes in the territory and sufficient water resources.
Historical evolution
Cuoqin means "big lake" in Tibetan and is named after the "Zhari Nam Co" Dachengshui Lake more than 10 kilometers east of the county residence.
Before liberation, it belonged to eight tribes including Shenzha Zong, Angren Zong, Bengba Zong and Qiaoqiu.
After liberation until 1970, it was under the jurisdiction of Gaize County. Cuoqin County was established on July 22, 1971, with the county government stationed at the gate.
