20 1 1 On August 29th, 2008, the Supreme People's Court and the Supreme People's Procuratorate jointly issued the Interpretation on Several Issues Concerning the Application of Laws in Handling Criminal Cases Endangering the Security of Computer Information Systems. According to the judicial interpretation, hackers who illegally obtain information such as account numbers and passwords of online financial services such as payment and settlement, securities trading and futures trading 10 groups or more can be sentenced to fixed-term imprisonment of not more than three years, and those who obtain more than 50 groups of the above information can be sentenced to fixed-term imprisonment of not less than three years but not more than seven years.
