What is design?
Anthony Bertram, a British design historian, pointed out in his book What is Design: "Design refers to all the factors related to an article, its intention and plan, the quality, material, use and beauty of the article itself, and even the price and the way to produce it." From this perspective, design is not only the drawing of drawings, but also the thing itself, which is about the concept of human creation and all the successful or failed development processes. Therefore, in a broad sense, design is a process of conception and planning, and it is a process of visualization through certain means (such as sketches, engineering drawings, renderings, schedules, text descriptions, solid models, electronic models, samples, etc.). Please pay attention to the difference between the two: the former takes drawing as all the work, so that the designer's attention is always focused on the drawing itself, ignoring the process of how the idea is finally transformed into the result; The latter only regards drawings as one of the means in the whole design process, focusing on all stages of the whole process, with the ultimate goal of "visualizing" creativity-turning it into a tangible object. Therefore, this understanding is the most comprehensive and correct touch on the essence of design.
