I guess you saw the argument about Gann. Some people say that he is a liar. Alexander Elder, a writer who trades for a living, said that he met Gann's son. His son said that his father sold books to support his family.
For Gann fans, it must be very sad to see the above comments. After studying for so long, I turned out to be a liar.
I personally have great respect for Alexander Aird, and I have benefited a lot from reading his books.
But if you have really studied Gann, you should understand that what Alexander Aird said is only the uncertainty of Gann's cycle forecast and price forecast. I read Trading for a Living, and the trend line, channel and supporting pressure he said are all discussed in Gann's works. On the contrary, in his works 50 years later, most of them quoted the theories of predecessors, and he only discussed the psychology of traders, but these shortcomings about human nature were discussed by Gann in every book.
Therefore, Alexander Elder is a successful trader at best, and Gann is a master.
People who call Gann a liar may be like many Gann fans who scold Alexander Aird. Don't be picky if you don't study!
Much as I respect Alexander Aird, I still despise him at this point! In the six books, Gann did not exactly discuss the prediction of time period and price period, and some of them were cursory. The real discussion of Gann's angle line and time price is only discussed in the core courses of stocks and futures, but these are just not publicly issued! Ordinary investors can learn most of Alexander Aird's operation methods by reading the previous books, but before 1950, you can't ask Gann to use the current computer indicators. Alexander Aird just surpassed Gann in index, so who is qualified to belittle Gann?
As for what his son said, we can't say that Alexander Elder lied, and I can't say whether his son lied or not, but Gann's weekly forecast of stock futures and the trading testimony of reporters at that time are well documented. No matter what his actual trading situation is, at least it shows that many people witnessed his successful trading at that time. As long as you follow his trading principles, I'm afraid you will succeed sooner or later, depending on whether you follow them or not!
Therefore, for Gann, personally, he has always been regarded as a master!
