With the steady growth of population and economic development, Southeast Asia is an important region to improve natural gas in the next decade. Some countries believe that natural gas meets the increasingly prominent requirements of power engineering. Although the region is a net exporter of natural gas, mainly used by Singapore and Indonesia, demand growth in this region is likely to exceed supply before the end of this decade.
DanielRogers, a natural gas investment analyst at GlobalData, commented: "In this region's natural gas and lng natural gas market prospect, Thailand's natural gas supply and demand vacancies are expected to expand, and China's supply demand will increase steadily. On the basis of improving the regasification capacity of lng, the two countries will look for the lng sales market to make up for the gap that cannot be filled by China's manufacturing or pipelines. At present, the regasification capacity of the two countries exceeds 3 trillion yuan cubic inch, the planned capacity is about 2 trillion yuan cubic inch, and the announced capacity is about 1 trillion yuan cubic inch, which may be put into use in 2030. In contrast, the current production capacity is only 0.5 trillion yuan cubic inch.
In 2020, Thailand and Malaysia exported a record amount of LNG, and Vietnam exported LNG cargo for the first time during pneumonia. GlobalData shows that in Thailand, lng natural gas ports are likely to become more and more critical, because the supply from China and the experience from Vietnam have naturally decreased, while the requirements of these two countries have increased. Even by 2030, Malaysia is expected to rely heavily on natural gas, because basically all power generation in the host country comes from natural gas. Last year, the number of LNG ports in Malaysia increased by 20%. With the short-term expiration of the pipeline gas supply contract, lng natural gas port will be particularly important for the supporting point power engineering structure that urgently needs gas.
Mr Rogers concluded: "On the supply side, there is a new project pipeline between Singapore and Indonesia, which will help to improve efficiency in a short time. Indonesia's nearly 4 million tons of LNG gasification capacity will be increasingly used to supply its China sales market. As we all know, the Philippines, Vietnam and Vietnam all have the risk of China's supply reduction during the forecast and analysis period, unless they can promote the undeveloped and designed new natural gas projects that are challenged at this stage. The progress of this new project is particularly important to its supply market prospects.
