Southwestern University of Finance and Economics has majors in finance, financial engineering, credit management, finance (securities and futures), investment, insurance, business administration (digital management), marketing (big data marketing), tourism management (digital tourism) and supply chain management (supply chain finance and smart business).

The school started from Guanghua University, and 1925 was established in Shanghai. 1938 Guanghua university Chengdu branch was established due to the westward movement of the anti-Japanese war, and 1946 was renamed as Hua university.

1952 to 1953, based on Chenghua University, merged into the Finance Department of Southwest China 16 to form Sichuan University of Finance and Economics. 1960 Sichuan university of finance and economics and Sichuan university of science and technology were established respectively, and in 196 1 year they merged and renamed Chengdu university. 1978 resumed as Sichuan University of Finance and Economics. 1979 was handed over from Sichuan province to the People's Bank of China. 1985 changed its name to Southwestern University of Finance and Economics. In 2000, it was handed over to the Ministry of Education for management.
