This will be a series of articles, the title of which was originally intended to be "the insurance story of our family", because I am not an insider, and I will tell my thoughts and experiences of buying insurance from the perspective of an ordinary customer. Not much professional knowledge, just telling stories.
However, when this topic appeared on the screen, Emma, it was so literary! I just caught a glimpse of the phrase "protect your loved ones" on the AIA policy at hand. I think it shows my original intention of buying insurance. Short and beautiful, just right for the title, and all in English, instantly "tall", haha!
Get down to business. When it comes to buying insurance, the first question is, are you risk-conscious?
I think that's what most insurance salesmen do-raise customers' risk awareness. They repeatedly stressed in various ways that they are not afraid of 10 thousand, but they are afraid of one thousand, such as what happened to someone, how miserable it is, and how important insurance is at this time ...
Watching too much will make you feel bored and even resistant. Me too. For a long time, I felt that insurance was dispensable, although my girlfriend reminded me many times and warned me with her own examples that protection was very important and streaking was very dangerous. I'm just saying, okay, I'll think about it. . .
At that time, we were in the stage of "quasi-house slave" and "house slave", and we couldn't wait to break a penny in half. Where are we willing to spend thousands of dollars on insurance every year? I think that I am physically strong, have a regular life, don't travel frequently, and the possibility of serious illness and accidents is very small. There is nothing wrong with not buying insurance.
In this way, until Qi's father's uncle was diagnosed with intestinal cancer, the life of the family was turned upside down. My uncle's family's economic conditions are not bad. There are many acres of land in the northeast, similar to manor owners. I have invested in real estate in Jiaodong Peninsula. But when a serious illness came, I couldn't come up with so much money at once, and I had to sell houses and land, which made people upset.
Now, I am alert and want to buy insurance for my parents-in-law. In case of serious illness, I can still get some protection. Just then, I met a mother who was engaged in insurance sales in parent-child activities. Feeling sincere, I asked her about buying insurance for the elderly. However, the answer is that over 55 years old, insurance companies no longer cover it. Even if you are under 55, the insurance premium of the same amount will be high after 40. The premium is linked to the age, and the earlier you buy the premium, the cheaper it is.
This consultation touched me a lot. Yes, now that we are young and strong, we don't think it is necessary to have insurance, but when we get old, all kinds of functions will decline, and it is difficult to ensure that we don't get sick. Wait until then, but the insurance company won't play with us!
Therefore, we should buy protection for the future while we are still young. But at that time, I just considered buying it for Qi's father, because he participated in social security, and I knew that social security was a drop in the bucket when it was really needed. And I have free medical care, which seems to be better than social security, and the demand for insurance is not so strong.
Soon, however, I stopped thinking that way. My unit is the last stop before many people retire, and they are more concerned with birth, illness, death and illness. When visiting a deputy bureau-level leader who was seriously ill in hospital, his family members were red-eyed and asked the organization to help solve the problem of medical expenses and reduce the family burden; A bureau-level leader died of a serious illness and the funeral was held at the same time. Ask the city leaders to reimburse more medical expenses. The whole treatment is mainly at public expense, and millions of them are at their own expense, which is difficult to bear; In sympathy with the widow of a deputy municipal leader, Aunt said with tears that this treatment almost cost the family's savings for so many years. ...
What I care about is whether the organization has solved the medical expenses of these leaders. As a result, no, everything was done according to the regulations, and those outside the scope of free medical care were borne by individuals. Even leaders at this level will encounter such problems and will not get "extra-legal mercy." How can I not think for myself in advance, admirer?
I remember studying "futures" in college, and the teacher spent a lot of energy explaining "options" to us. I also worked hard to understand and sent an email to the teacher for advice. The concept of "using today's money to buy tomorrow's income" really needs some thinking before it can be truly understood and accepted. In the process of studying what insurance to choose in the future, I practiced all the basic courses in the university. It's really "hate using books less"!
Writing here, we can see that my initial demand for insurance is that when I am old and weak, I can have an insurance compensation for medical expenses if I encounter serious illness. Later, when choosing specific insurance, I gradually deepened my understanding of insurance, only to find that the original idea was too one-sided:
First of all, the time when everyone needs insurance most is not after old age, but during middle age. At this time, there are gradually weak parents in the world, and there are children in the world who need to be raised. I'm on the rise in my career, with great pressure and heavy workload. If something happens at this time, the blow to the family will be devastating. If you buy enough insurance, even if something goes wrong, it will not have much impact on the normal life of other family members, at least economically. This also means "protecting relatives".
Secondly, critical illness insurance is only a small part of insurance. Of course, critical illness insurance is an important basic guarantee, but it is not enough for a serious illness. After deciding to buy insurance, the first consideration is accident insurance, for accidental death, and then serious illness. There are also medical insurance, term life insurance ... (these are all guaranteed). To buy or not to buy, we need to think carefully and identify what is needed by the family and what can be replaced by other means.
As for which insurance to choose and how to choose insurance, listen to the next chapter:)
