Silicon-manganese alloy is an alloy composed of manganese, silicon, iron and a small amount of carbon, which is a widely used and high-yield ferroalloy. Its consumption accounts for the second place in electric furnace ferroalloy products. Manganese and silicon in Mn-Si alloy have strong affinity with oxygen. When Mn-Si alloy is used in steelmaking, the melting points of deoxidized products MnSiO3 and Mn2SiO4 are 1270℃ and 1327℃ respectively, which have the advantages of low melting point, large particles, easy floating and good deoxidization effect. Under the same conditions, the burning loss rate of manganese or silicon alone is 46% and 37%, respectively, while the burning loss rate of manganese-silicon alloy is 29%. It has been widely used in steelmaking, and the output growth rate is higher than the average growth rate of ferroalloy and steel, and it has become an indispensable composite deoxidizer and alloy additive in steel industry. Manganese-silicon alloy with carbon content below 1.9% is also a semi-finished product used to produce low-carbon ferromanganese and silicothermic manganese. [ 1]
