It is understood that Yongzhou Railway starts from Ningbo East Station in the west, passes through Yinzhou District and Beilun District of Ningbo City, Jintang Island, Cizi Island and Zhoushan Island of Zhoushan City, and ends in Bai Quan Town of Dinghai District in the east. The total length of the line is about 76.4 kilometers and the design speed is 250 kilometers per hour. There are 7 stations on the whole line, including 4 newly-built Beilun West Station, Jintang Station, Ma 'ao Station and Zhoushan Station, and 3 existing stations, including Ningbo East Station, Qiu 'ai Station and Yunlong Station, all of which have motor car parking lots.
The construction period of the project is 6 years, and it is expected to be completed and opened to traffic by the end of 2028. After the completion of the Ningbo-Zhoushan Railway, Zhejiang will realize the "high-speed rail linkage between cities", which takes about 0.5 hours from Zhoushan Station to Ningbo East Station and about 1 hour from Zhoushan Station to hangzhou east railway station via Ningbo East Station.

2019 August 13 ~ 15, Planning Standards Research Institute jointly organized and carried out the evaluation of the feasibility study report of the newly-built Ningbo-Zhoushan Railway in Zhoushan City, Zhejiang Province. On August 14, 2020, the environmental impact assessment information of the newly-built Ningbo-Zhoushan railway was publicized. According to public information, the Ningbo-Zhoushan Railway will set up Zhoushan Station in Bai Quan Town, Dinghai District.
