The oil palm oil palm, also known as oil coconut and African oil palm, is an evergreen tree in Palmae, with a height of 10 m, DBH 50 cm, pinnately divided leaves clustered at the top of the stem and a length of 3 ~ 4.5 m. The fruit is ovoid or obovate, 4 ~ 5 cm long and 3 cm in diameter. Orange-red when mature, with nearly spherical or ovoid seeds. Oil palm grows in areas where the annual average temperature is 24 ~ 28℃ and the annual average rainfall is1800 ~ 3000mm. Oil palm originated in tropical Africa and was introduced to Hainan from Malaysia in 1920. At present, it is cultivated in Hainan, Guangdong, Guangxi, Yunnan, Fujian, Sichuan and Taiwan Province provinces. The main oil palm producers in the world are Malaysia, Philippines, Indonesia, C? te d 'Ivoire, Zaire and Nigeria.
Why is oil palm called the world oil king? Oil palm is a woody oil plant with the highest yield per unit area in the world. Generally, palm oil yields about 200 kilograms per mu, which is five or six times higher than that of flowers and nearly 10 times that of soybeans, so it is known as the "world oil king". The oil squeezed from oil palm fruit is called palm oil, and the oil squeezed from palm kernel is called palm kernel oil, both of which are high-quality edible oils. They can also be refined into high-grade cream and chocolate candy to replace cocoa butter and ice cream oil. In industry, high-quality soap can be made. Acetic acid and formaldehyde can be extracted from the shell to make activated carbon and fiberboard. Palm oil cake can be used as feed. After the inflorescence matures, the juice can also be used to make wine. The economic life of oil palm trees is 20-25 years. In China, Hainan, Guangdong, Guangxi, Taiwan Province, Fujian, Yunnan and other provinces have introduced varieties, and oil palm gardens are under active construction.
Oil palm, the king of oil, is only used as ornamental, decorative and greening tree species in daily application. It was not until 19 17 that people realized its other values. The peels and nuts of oil palm are rich in oil, and the nuts contain 45.5% oil. Oil palm is the crop with the highest oil yield per unit area in the world. In Malaysia, oil palm can produce 4 tons of palm oil and 0.4 tons of palm kernel oil per hectare, and the oil output per unit area is 20 times that of soybean and 10 times that of rapeseed. Palm oil contains about 50% unsaturated fatty acids, and is also rich in vitamin E, which can resist cell aging, arteriosclerosis and cancer, and also contains vitamin A and carotenoids. Because of its anti-oxidation and anti-polymerization, it is widely used in food manufacturing.
