HKEx operates exchanges in China, Hongkong and London. Its members include The Stock Exchange of Hong Kong Limited, Hong Kong Futures Exchange Limited, Hong Kong Securities Clearing Company Limited, Options Clearing House Limited and Hong Kong Futures Clearing Company Limited, and the London Metal Exchange (LME), the world's leading base metal market.

Hong Kong's securities trading has a long history, which appeared in the early days of Hong Kong's opening in the19th century. The earliest securities trading in Hong Kong can be traced back to 1866. The first stock exchange in Hong Kong, the Hong Kong Association of Securities Brokers, was established at 189 1.

The original four exchanges in Hong Kong and their establishment dates: Hong Kong Exchange was established at 1947, and Far East Exchange was established at 1969, 12, 17. The Gold and Silver Stock Exchange was established in1971September 15, and the Kowloon Stock Exchange was established in 1972.
