What is carbon trading?
Carbon trading is a market mechanism to promote global greenhouse gas emission reduction and reduce global carbon dioxide emission.

After difficult negotiations, the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change adopted the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change on May 9, 1992. 1February 1997, 12 adopted the first additional agreement to the Convention, namely the Kyoto Protocol. The Protocol regards the market mechanism as a new way to solve the problem of greenhouse gas emission reduction represented by carbon dioxide, that is, treating carbon dioxide emission rights as a commodity, thus forming the trading of carbon dioxide emission rights, referred to as carbon trading.

On 20 11June1day, the National Development and Reform Commission issued the Notice on Launching the Pilot Work of Carbon Emissions Trading, and approved seven provinces and cities including Beijing, Shanghai, Tianjin, Chongqing, Hubei, Guangdong and Shenzhen to carry out the pilot work of carbon trading. In the past two years, under the guidance and support of the National Development and Reform Commission, Shenzhen has actively promoted the research and practice related to carbon trading, made efforts to explore the establishment of a carbon emission trading mechanism suitable for China's national conditions and with Shenzhen characteristics, and successively completed the work of system design, data verification, quota allocation and system construction.

The optimization of energy structure and the adoption of new energy technologies are in sharp contrast with the low energy efficiency, large emission reduction space and low cost in developing countries. This directly leads to different costs of the same emission reduction in different countries, resulting in price differences. As a result, the carbon trading market came into being.

On June 20 13, Shenzhen launched the first domestic carbon emission trading market, which opened the carbon emission trading in China. At the same time, the Shenzhen emissions trading market is open to individual investors, opening up new investment channels for the people of the whole country. In order to facilitate the institutions and individuals concerned about carbon emission trading in the whole country, the service of "never leaving home and opening accounts in different places" has been set up.
