Do I need to pass the domestic securities qualification examination to take the Hong Kong securities examination?
This is necessary. Those who have obtained the securities qualification in Hong Kong need to take the mainland qualification examination if they want to engage in the securities industry in the Mainland.

According to the Closer Economic Partnership Arrangement between the Mainland and Hong Kong-Relevant Arrangements for Securities and Futures Practitioners' Qualifications, Hong Kong professionals who have passed the mainland securities laws and regulations examination may apply to the China Securities Association for obtaining mainland securities qualifications. Hong Kong professionals refer to permanent residents of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region who hold (including once held) relevant licenses issued by the Hong Kong Securities Regulatory Commission in the last three years.

China Securities Industry Association will review the application materials submitted by the applicant, and make an audit opinion within 15 working days. The list of persons who have obtained mainland securities qualification after approval will be published on the website of China Securities Association. Hong Kong professionals who have obtained mainland securities practice qualifications and are employed by mainland securities institutions may apply to China Securities Association for qualification certificates through their employing institutions under the same conditions and procedures as other mainland professionals.
