Mustard, also known as hanging vegetables and covering vegetables, belongs to the genus Panicum in Cruciferae, with a plant height of about 1.5 meters. Its flowering period is from March to May every year, and the fruit grows and matures in May to June. There are many varieties of mustard, the most common ones are Xuelihong, mustard tuber, kohlrabi, oil mustard tuber and big leaf mustard tuber.

1 What is mustard, mustard?

Mustard, also known as "Gaicai" and "Guacai", is a cruciferous plant with a life span of only one year, a plant height of about 1.5m, prickly leaves and a spicy taste. Mustard blooms in March in spring and bears fruit in June in summer. The fruit is spherical or linear.

2. Main varieties

There are seven varieties of mustard: Xuelihong, mustard tuber, kohlrabi, wrinkled mustard tuber, big leaf mustard tuber, Shuidong mustard tuber and oil mustard tuber, among which Xuelihong can be used as mustard tuber, mustard tuber and kohlrabi can be eaten, and wrinkled mustard tuber, big leaf mustard tuber and Shuidong mustard tuber can be used as vegetables.

3. Maintenance management

When planting mustard, we should provide it with nitrogen fertilizer to improve the disease resistance of plants. When mustard is in seedling stage, we should provide it with decomposed farmyard manure to maintain the growth of plants. In the late growth stage, foliar fertilizer should also be sprayed on the leaves twice to make the mustard grow stronger.
