The secretariat sent him in the evening. Let him tell the soldiers and civilians in the city: "There are no reinforcements coming outside. Let's surrender as soon as possible." So he put him on the tower. He told the Secretariat: "Tens of thousands of reinforcements are close to us, in the cold." Fan was so angry that he burned to death with a torch. He refused to give in until he died. In the second year of reunification, the emperor named him General Long Xiang, and posthumously awarded the imperial edict.
