Jurisdiction of courts at all levels
Different types of litigation have different levels of jurisdiction. For example, in civil litigation, grass-roots courts have jurisdiction over civil cases of first instance, and intermediate courts have jurisdiction over major foreign-related cases and cases with great influence in their respective jurisdictions.

The jurisdiction of the court can be classified according to different standards, and the most commonly used are hierarchical jurisdiction and regional jurisdiction. The first-level jurisdiction of the people's court is to divide the division of labor and important authority of the lower and higher courts to accept civil cases of first instance. Regional jurisdiction refers to the division of labor and authority of the people's court at the same level to determine the trial of economic cases of first instance within its jurisdiction. Litigation jurisdiction refers to the jurisdiction and specific division of labor of courts at all levels and courts at the same level in different regions to accept civil cases and economic disputes of first instance. Jurisdiction of the Higher People's Court: The Higher People's Court has jurisdiction over civil cases of first instance with great influence in its jurisdiction. In a case of first instance tried by an intermediate people's court, the appeal of the parties is generally tried by a high court. The criminal cases of first instance under the jurisdiction of the Higher People's Court are major criminal cases in the whole province (autonomous regions and municipalities directly under the Central Government).

The criminal cases of first instance under the jurisdiction of the Intermediate People's Court are counter-revolutionary cases, ordinary criminal cases sentenced to life imprisonment or death penalty, criminal cases committed by foreigners or criminal cases in which China citizens infringe upon the legitimate rights of foreigners. The civil cases of first instance under the jurisdiction are foreign-related cases and cases with great influence in this region. The administrative cases of first instance under the jurisdiction are cases in which the invention patent right is confirmed, cases handled by the customs, cases in which specific administrative actions are initiated by various departments in the State Council or the people's governments of provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities directly under the Central Government, and major and complicated cases within their jurisdiction.
