French data company Kpler and energy trading institution Power next jointly launched a LNG trading platform "Spark" in Singapore, which launched two new LNG freight futures contracts-"spark 25" (Pacific Ocean) and "Spark 30" (Atlantic Ocean). "Spark 25" involves Australia-Japan, South Korea, Taiwan Province Province and Chinese mainland, and "Spark 30" involves the United States-Northwest Europe. These new contracts are traded and settled in US dollars, and the numbers in the contract names indicate the number of days required for LNG ships to complete a round trip on their respective routes. The settlement price of these contracts is based on the spot market freight of LNG ships involved in Spark30S (Atlantic) and Spark25S (Pacific) routes, and market participants can use these contracts to manage the price risk.
