Expansionary monetary policy will accelerate inflation: if the central bank buys bonds in the open market, reduces the rediscount rate and the reserve ratio of commercial banks, all these will increase the money supply, thus aggravating inflation.
On the contrary, tight monetary policy will curb inflation, such as lowering the reserve ratio, raising the rediscount rate and issuing central bank bills.
