Project introduction

The Master of Financial Mathematics Program of Johns Hopkins University is a master's degree in engineering provided by the Department of Applied Mathematics and Statistics. The project lasts for three semesters, starting in late summer and ending in mid-June 5438+February of the following year. Students with strong quantitative undergraduate background are encouraged to apply for this program.

The goal of this project is to train the next generation of leaders in the field of financial mathematics. Therefore, the project not only focuses on strengthening students' quantitative ability, but also focuses on transforming practical problems into mathematical models and transmitting the results to professionals and non-professionals.

There is no doubt that mastering computer knowledge is necessary for financial mathematics, so every student should have the knowledge of using computers in financial mathematics. This knowledge includes: computer programming (C, C++), application of numerical software, symbolic operation, algorithm and realization of data interface. Effective communication skills are also important. The project will strengthen students' communication and presentation skills through seminars and course paper presentations.

2. Select a branch

There are five branches to choose from: risk management, asset management, derivatives, quantitative trading/algorithmic trading/high-frequency trading, fixed income &; Futures.

No matter which branch you choose, the courses you need to complete are:

In addition to courses, there are two forms: master's seminar on financial mathematics, communication skills training and summer internship. Students can use the first year's winter vacation and the second year's summer vacation to carry out related internships.

Application requirements

1. Background requirements. Undergraduate majors are engineering, mathematics, science, finance or economics, and should complete the following courses: calculus &; Multivariate calculus, linear algebra, differential equations, probability theory and statistics, microeconomics and macroeconomics, computer programming (such as C++), and at least two courses to write proofs (such as analysis, abstract algebra and topology).
