Yu 25 was bred by Shandong Peanut Research Institute 14 as female parent and Huaxuan 1 as male parent on 1997, and its offspring were selected by pedigree method.

In 2004-2005, the average yield of pods and seeds per mu was 3 19.79 kg and 232.49 kg, respectively, which were 9.43% higher than those of the control Lu Hua 1 1.25 kg. In 2006, the average yield of pods and seeds per mu was 327.6 kg and 240.9 kg, respectively, which was 1 1 2.2% higher than that of the control Lu Hua.
