A transaction can be completed only if there is a buy or sell. The long position always corresponds to the same short position. Otherwise, who sold the long position to him. For example, there are only two of us in this market. I buy 10 lots. When selling 10 lots, the transaction can only be completed if the price is right. After the transaction, my position is more than 10 lots. The position is 10 short. The total market position is 20 lots. If a third person comes to the market and he sells 10 lots, and if neither of us places an order, he will not close the deal. If we buy and close 10 lots and close the deal with him, then 10 lots will be empty. After changing hands to him, the market still has a total position of 20 lots.
Position, also known as short position or open interest, refers to the number of futures contracts of a certain commodity that have not been hedged and physically delivered after buying or selling.
The buyers and sellers of open positions are equal, and the domestic position is calculated as the total number of buyers and sellers. If both the buyer and seller are opening new positions, the position will be increased by 2 contracts; if one of the parties is opening a new position and the other is closing, the position will remain unchanged; if both the buyer and seller are closing, the position will be reduced by 2 contract amount. When the number of open positions and the number of closed positions are equal next time, the position amount will not change.
