The Shawshank Redemption is an American drama written and directed by Frank Darabont and starring Tim Robbins and Morgan Freeman. The film was released in the United States on September 23rd, 1994. 1995, the film won seven nominations, including the best film in the 67th Academy Awards.
The film is based on Stephen Edwin King's novella The Shawshank Redemption. 1982. It mainly tells the story that Andy, a banker, became friends with Rhett, who smuggled all kinds of contraband in prison, after he was shot and killed his wife and lover. Andy quietly and step by step planned to save himself, and finally escaped from prison and regained his freedom.
Film evaluation
The public's love for The Shawshank Redemption may be due to Thomas Newman's bitter soundtrack, but more importantly, the touching characterization and deep friendship between Robbins and Freeman highlight the enduring resilience of the human spirit. (Hollywood Report Review)
