The application of 1 and PTA is relatively concentrated. More than 90% of PTA in the world is used to produce polyethylene terephthalate (PET), and other parts are used as raw materials for products such as propylene terephthalate (PTT) and polybutylene terephthalate (PBT).
2.PTA production process can be divided into oxidation unit and hydrofining unit. Under the action of catalyst, raw material PX is oxidized into crude terephthalic acid with acetic acid as solvent, and then crystallized, filtered and dried in turn into crude products. Crude terephthalic acid is hydrogenated to remove impurities, crystallized, centrifugally separated and dried to obtain PTA finished product.
3. Application of PTA: PTA is one of the important bulk organic raw materials, which is mainly used to produce polyester fibers (polyester filaments and staple fibers), polyester bottles and polyester films. More than 90% of PTA in the world is used to produce polyethylene terephthalate (PET). 1 ton PET requires 0.855 ton PTA and 0.335 ton MEG. In the domestic market, 75% PTA is used to produce polyester fiber, mainly used in clothing and home textile fabrics; 20% is used to produce bottle-grade polyester, which is mainly used for the packaging of various beverages, especially carbonated beverages. 5% is film-grade polyester, which is mainly used for packaging materials, films and adhesive tapes.
4. Capacity and operating load of PTA plant: The total capacity of PTA determines the total marginal supply of PTA, and the PTA production plant needs to be overhauled at least once a year. When the loss of the production enterprise lasts for a long time, the production enterprise will choose the off-season or arrange maintenance to reduce the market risk, thus affecting the supply and pushing up the price.
5. Polyester and terminal demand: The terminal demand of polyester is obviously divided into off-season and peak season. Generally speaking, March-April and 9- 10 are the peak seasons of traditional polyester and downstream textiles, and the off-season of traditional textiles is around the Spring Festival and in summer. If the terminal demand season cooperates with PTA plant maintenance, it will help the price rise. On the contrary, the off-season of terminal demand is likely to lead to a decline in PTA raw material prices.
