As a folk belief of the Han nationality, Master Zhong Yi is known as "the grandfather of Sanping" in Minnan and overseas, and his ancestral home is Gaoling County, Xianyang, Shaanxi. Because his father went to Fujian to be an official, Zhong Yi was born in Tang Fu County, Fuqing County, which is now under the jurisdiction of Fuzhou, Fujian Province, on the sixth day of the first month of the sixth year of Li Shixingyuan in Tang Dezong. Smart in righteousness, diligent and eager to learn since childhood, read widely and see the poems that can be recorded. My father is a master, and doctoral teachers are constantly coming. Later, because Tang Wuzong Li Yan abandoned the Buddha and destroyed the monk, Master Zhong Yi reluctantly bid farewell to Zizhi Mountain, led many monks and nuns, trekked over mountains and mountains, and finally came to the Nine Layers Rock of Peace. I saw the green mountains and green waters here, and the scenery was beautiful and charming. This is a good place to build temples and preach. He and other monks and nuns went through hardships and built Sanping Temple here. Master Zhong Yi saw that the villagers here lived a slash-and-burn life, extremely poor and backward, and lacked medical care and medicine. Many mountain people are poor and ill, and forced to leave their homes and escape from the countryside, resulting in the desolation of the mountain gardens here. He came to the villagers' home, asked the people how they were warm and cold, tried his best to treat the villagers, and taught his "Taizu Boxing" and "Shaozu Boxing" to the local villagers without reservation, so as to keep fit and prevent diseases, and won the welcome and appreciation of the people at home.
Master Zhong Yi came to Sanping Mountain, and he wholeheartedly sent doctors and medicines to the villagers. The good news of treating diseases was like waves of warm spring breeze, blowing out of the mountain. The escaped climbers were very happy to hear the news, and they all returned to the mountains one after another. Master Zhong Yi taught them advanced farming techniques and changed the backward face of slash-and-burn cultivation. He also actively guided the villagers to reclaim barren hills, build pastoral areas, build water conservancy projects and build cottages, so that the production in the deep mountains was restored and developed, the villagers lived and worked in peace and contentment, lived a self-sufficient natural and economic life, and lived in harmony with Master Zhong Yi and all monks and nuns.
When Xuanzong of the Tang Dynasty revived Buddhism, the emperor named him "Master of Guangji". Master Zhong Yi preached more seriously and displayed his talents inside and outside Sanping Mountain.
On the sixth day of November in the 13th year of Tang Xiantong, Master Zhong Yi died in Sanping Temple at the age of 92. Because he did a lot of good things for his family all his life, later generations respectfully called him "Grandpa Sanping". /kloc-for more than 0/000 years, incense has flourished here, and people have always worshipped him as the god of charity. Even overseas Chinese and compatriots from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan who live abroad are obsessed with benevolence, righteousness and merits, scrambling to come here to worship and donate money to repair the temple.
