China Everbright Group is a state-owned enterprise. China Everbright Group Co., Ltd. (English name China Everbright Group, Chinese abbreviation Everbright Group) was initiated and established by the Ministry of Finance and Central Huijin Company. It is a state-owned enterprise managed by the central government. It was founded in Hong Kong in May 1983 and officially opened on August 18 of the same year. When the Everbright Group was first established, it was mainly engaged in foreign trade and industrial investment. It was registered as "Unisplenguang Industrial Co., Ltd." and was renamed "China Everbright Group Co., Ltd." in July 1984.

On December 8, 2014, with the approval of the State Council, Everbright Group was restructured from a wholly state-owned enterprise to a joint-stock company and officially changed its name to "China Everbright Group Co., Ltd."
