Solomon Islands is located in the southwest of the Pacific Ocean, with latitude 5- 12 south and longitude 155- 170 east. It consists of Guadalcanal, New Georgia, Malaita, Shu Vasseur, Santa Isabel, san cristobal island, Santa Cruz and many surrounding islands. It belongs to Melanesian Islands and has more than 900 islands. The total land area is * * * 28,450 square kilometers, and Guadalcanal, the largest island, covers an area of 6,475 square kilometers.

Solomon Islands is economically backward and is listed as one of the least developed countries by the United Nations.
