How to distinguish Xinjiang cotton from ordinary cotton
The difference between Xinjiang cotton and ordinary cotton lies in two aspects: fiber length and brushed strength.

First of all, look at the difference between the two from the fiber length.

Xinjiang cotton long-staple cotton varieties, the fiber length is 38-39.7 mm.

The length of ordinary cotton fiber is about 20-40mm.

Second, look at the difference between the two from the strength of the brush.

Xinjiang cotton long-staple cotton has higher napping strength and stronger toughness than ordinary cotton.

Compared with ordinary cotton, napping strength is low and toughness is not as good as Xinjiang cotton.

Extended data:

1. Xinjiang long-staple cotton is named after its long fiber. It is produced in Turpan Basin, Xinjiang, Aksu, Bayinguoleng, Kashgar and other places in Tarim Basin, and is the producing area of long-staple cotton in China. Originated in South America, it was introduced to the southeast coastal islands of North America.

The main varieties are; Junhai 1 is an early-maturing long-staple cotton variety with fiber length of 38-39.7mm, fineness of 75 10m/g, strength of 4.4g, breaking length of 33.2km, lint percentage of 32-33 and boll weight of 3g. Mainly produced in Aksu, Bayinguoleng and other agricultural farms.

The new sponge is a mutant directional breeding of "5230 F" variety. The growth period is 13 1 day in Turpan and 146- 17 1 day in southern Xinjiang. The fiber length is 34.37 mm, the fineness is 7080 m/g, the strength is 4.84 g, and the breaking length is 34.27 km. Mainly produced in Turpan basin.

Mixed Selection No.2 was bred by crossing multiple varieties, with growth period of 150- 155 days, fiber length of 38-39.7mm, fineness of 75 10/0m/g, and strength of 4.44g. It is mainly produced in Kashgar.

Second, cotton is subtropical in origin. The plant is shrubby and can grow to 6 meters high in tropical areas, usually 1 to 2 meters.

The flowers are milky white, turn dark red shortly after flowering, and then wither, leaving a small green capsule called cotton boll. There are cottonseed in the boll, and the fluff on the cottonseed grows from the cottonseed skin and fills the inside of the boll. When the cotton boll matures, it splits and exposes soft fibers.

The fiber is white or yellowish white, about 2-4 cm (0.75- 1.5 inch) long, containing about 87-90% cellulose, 5-8% water and 4-6% other substances. The countries with the highest cotton production are China, the United States and India.
