In order to ensure the strength, the aluminum alloy frame plate will be thicker than steel, and the assembly method will also use bolts instead of riveting. Nevertheless, the weight of the frame alone has been reduced by 108kg.
Secondly, the leaf spring is made of glass fiber composite instead of metal. The composite leaf spring seems novel, and has actually been applied in the field of passenger cars. Don't worry about the strength, the service life is longer than that of the traditional metal leaf spring. In addition, the composite leaf spring will not rub against each other like the metal leaf spring, thus reducing the noise when the vehicle is running. Omar ultra-light products adopt the design of front 1 and rear 1+ 1, and the overall weight of leaf spring is reduced by 95kg.
The third thing to talk about is the battery. It can be seen that the battery assembled by Omar ultra-light products is very small. It uses lithium-ion battery instead of traditional lead-acid battery, reducing weight by 46.5kg, and the lithium battery can be charged and discharged for 2000 times, with faster charging speed, longer life cycle and no lead and other heavy metal pollution.
Finally, the steering system, Omar pioneered the electric steering gear with cast aluminum shell, which is 5kg lighter than hydraulic steering. There is no noise when the electric steering works, and the steering intensity changes with the vehicle speed, which is lighter at low speed and more stable at high speed, which is convenient for the driver to control the vehicle.
The above four points are excellent designs. Of course, in addition to them, Omar's ultra-lightweight products also have some lightweight applications, such as aluminum alloy single transmission shaft, cast aluminum flywheel housing, aluminum shell gearbox, lightweight rear axle, aluminum alloy rim and so on. Finally, the whole vehicle achieved a weight loss of 395 kg.
There is a large area of thermal insulation cotton in the center of the bottom of the cab, and anti-rust paint is sprayed on the wheels on both sides. Lightweight is important, but the necessary configuration has not been saved.
Omar's ultra-light products are equipped with an exclusive customized and integrated super power chain. Cummins 2.8 and 3.8 engines match ZF's 5-speed and 6-speed gearboxes, and the rear axle speed ratio is 3.727.
With the application of so many new materials and technologies, the price of new cars is still slightly higher than that of traditional light trucks. However, from the perspective of TCO life cycle cost, in the future operation process, this light truck with low self-weight will run empty and save fuel, and will bring direct benefits when fully loaded. Moreover, when the vehicle is scrapped, the recovery price of aluminum is higher than that of iron, and the residual value of the vehicle is better.
