Ethylene glycol is expensive. The price of methanol is cheaper than ethylene glycol. This is mainly because methanol is produced from natural gas, coal and other resources, while ethylene glycol needs to be synthesized from raw materials such as ethylene or ethane. Because of the different raw material supply and production process, the cost of methanol is lower than that of ethylene glycol, so the price of methanol is relatively cheap.
