Zhengzhou, referred to as Shangdu for short, is the capital of Henan Province, a megacity and the core city of Central Plains urban agglomeration. The State Council approved it as an important central city in central China and an important comprehensive transportation hub of the country.
As of 202 1, the whole city has jurisdiction over 6 districts and 5 cities 1 county, Zhengzhou Airport Economic Comprehensive Experimental Zone, Zhengdong New District and Zhengzhou Airport Economic Comprehensive Experimental Zone. Zhengzhou Economic and Technological Development Zone, Zhengzhou High-tech Industrial Development Zone.
Zhengzhou is an important hub city of railway, aviation, electric power, postal service and telecommunication in China, and has the largest freight marshalling station in Asia. Zhengzhou Airport Port Area is the only comprehensive experimental area of national airport economy in China, and Zhengzhou Commodity Exchange is the first futures exchange in China.
Animal resources
There are 46 species of wildlife under special state protection in Zhengzhou, among which 9 species are white stork, black stork, golden eagle, white-tailed sea eagle, white-crowned crane, red-crowned crane, white crane and great bustard. There are 37 species of national second-class protected animals, including giant salamander, tiger frog, white spoonbill, otter, swan, cygnet, mandarin duck, warbler, goshawk, sparrow hawk, sparrow hawk and so on.
