The prototype of Excelle comes from Daewoo Lacetti, South Korea. GM and Daewoo cooperated in the early years. In the new millennium, Daewoo was in a financial emergency, and American General Motors acquired bankrupt daewoo motor. Lacetti has achieved great success in the Korean market. Seeing the potential of Lacetti, GM subsequently decided to sell Lacetti to its companies. Lacetti model was classified as Buick brand in China, settled in Shanghai GM and put into production, named as "Excelle".
Although the car is small, its body is heavy, so its fuel consumption is high. With its cheap price, the sales volume is not bad for a while. Later, because the technology has not been updated, it was gradually eliminated by the market.
