Qingyuan xingsi (? ~ 740), the common surname is Liu, from Luling, Jizhou (now Ji 'an, Jiangxi). After becoming a monk, he went to see Huineng in Shaozhou and was listed as the first disciple. After gaining the Tao, he returned to Qingyuan Mountain in Jizhou, promoted Zen and created a series of Qingyuan. Huineng's teacher and friend Qian Hedu visited Huineng after his death, and Qian became his famous disciple. After his death, Hangsi was posthumously named "Master Hongji".
