What is the difference between futures and options?
The difference between futures and options:

Trading objects are different: futures contracts are restricted, while options are less restricted. There are futures options, but there is no option futures.

Different functions: the main functions of futures are hedging and price discovery, generally hedging spot, while hedging options can hedge futures.

Others are some differences in trading methods, such as margin provisions, settlement methods and performance guarantees. In the performance guarantee, both parties need to open a margin account for futures, and only the seller (issuer) needs to open a margin account for options.
