A, bean seed PROFILE (profile)
Pakkas (pacas) is the standard quality in Central America, and it is vulnerable to leaf rust. Pacas originated in El Salvador and is a natural variety of bourbon. Natural varieties of bourbon also include Kaddoura in Brazil and Verasazi in Costa Rica.
Second, the history of beans (history)
Pacas is a natural variation of bourbon, similar to Caturra in Brazil and Villa Sarchi in Costa Rica. Pakkas (Pacas) are similar to other widely cultivated bourbon mutants, and have a single gene mutation, which can make plants smaller and shorter. This is its main advantage. The small size of plants can increase the potential yield and bring plants closer together, thus increasing the total fruit output of farms.
2. Pakkas was found in a farm owned by the family of Santa Anna Pakkas in El Salvador on 1949. From 65438 to 0960, the Salvadoran Coffee Research Institute (ISIC) began to carry out the genealogical selection (through individual selection for successive generations) for Pacas. The country is still widely cultivated, accounting for about 25% of the national coffee production. The original seed can be obtained from Procafe. It also grows in Honduras and was introduced by IHCAFE in Honduras on 1974.
