Xinxiang is a city under the jurisdiction of Henan Province, located in the north of Henan Province, bordering the Yellow River in the south and Zhengzhou, the capital of Henan Province. It was the capital of People's Republic of China (PRC)'s early plain province. Xinxiang is an important city in the Central Plains Economic Zone and the core area of the Central Plains urban agglomeration. It is also the center of economy, education, transportation, commerce and logistics in northern Henan, and the city scale ranks third in Henan Province.

Xinxiang covers an area of 422 square kilometers, and has jurisdiction over four municipal districts, namely Weibin District, Hongqi District, muye district and Fengquan District, and two national development zones (Xinxiang High-tech Industrial Development Zone and Xinxiang Economic and Technological Development Zone) including huixian city, Weihui City, Xinxiang County, Huojia County, Yuanyang County, Yanjin County, fengqiu county County and Changyuan County, and the demonstration zone of urban-rural integration in the whole province (plain urban-rural integration demonstration zone).
