Sino-US food dispute: China lost soybean and won rice. How to break domestic seeds?
Since 2020, the international grain has ushered in a crazy rise, but this is not the beginning. Since the beginning of this year, the prices of wheat, corn and soybean have risen again, even the prices of chemical fertilizers and edible oil are rising, but the price of rice is low.

In fact, the rice market is stable because Asia is the main producer of rice, and China is the largest grower. There is not much room for international capital speculation, which makes China win the rice. So how can domestic seeds break the game?

Speaking of the food dispute between China and the United States, the soybean dispute began as early as the beginning of this century.

0 1, the lesson of soybean

China has a soybean planting history of more than 5,000 years, and is also the country of origin of soybeans. But who would have thought that in 202 1 year, China's soybean output was only16.4 million tons, but its import volume was as high as 96.537 million tons, and its dependence on foreign countries was nearly 85%.

Why is it difficult for a traditional soybean growing country to realize soybean freedom?

In fact, as early as 1995, China was still a big exporter, accounting for about 90% of the world's exports, but now it is controlled by people. Most of the soybeans in China are imported from Brazil, Argentina and the United States, and most of them are controlled by the four major grain merchants of ABCD. Once its supply is cut off, it will have a great impact on China.

In this regard, as early as 18 years ago, a soybean plot against China began.

In order to obtain high-yield soybeans, the United States went to China to collect high-quality soybeans as early as the end of 19, and it lasted for more than half a century.

1957, the United States obtained a batch of Northeast capsule seeds. The oil yield of this soybean is higher than that of ordinary soybean 16%, and the resistance gene is strong. The United States has studied it for a long time, and in 2002, it developed transgenic soybean seeds with low cost and high yield.

In 2004, the four major grain merchants speculated on the price of grain, and the news of soybean production reduction came out. Then, the price of soybean began to soar, from 2300 yuan per ton to 4400 yuan per ton in less than two months.

Seeing this, domestic enterprises bought soybeans at a high price and directly imported 8 million tons.

Bean farmers have also expanded their crops to make money.

However, I didn't expect that since July, the United States has indicated that soybean production has increased greatly. As a result, international capital shorted the market, and soybeans quickly fell from 5,600 yuan per ton to 2,000 yuan per ton, which caused heavy losses for enterprises and made no money for soybean farmers. Many edible oil enterprises are on the verge of bankruptcy.

At this time, the four major grain merchants entered the domestic market on a large scale. Results In less than two years, the private edible oil industry in China was basically controlled by international capital.

Since then, the soybean industry in China has been depressed for many years, and the import volume has increased year by year, but the price has also increased step by step. At present, the domestic soybean price has risen to more than 6000 yuan/ton, the processing cost of enterprises is high, and the feed cost is also relatively high, so that the cost of edible oil, meat and eggs for residents is rising.

02, won the meal.

Most countries in Asia take rice as their staple food, Thailand, India, Viet Nam and Pakistan are the main rice producers and exporters, while China is the largest producer and consumer, with a self-sufficiency rate of over 100% and a stock of several hundred million tons.

Although the United States is a major exporter of soybeans, wheat and corn and an important producer of rice, compared with Asia, its output is limited and its role in the global market is limited.

To this end, although food prices have risen sharply in the past two years, the rice market is very stable.

But it also made Americans desperate, falsely claiming that China planted rice and released a lot of methane, which made the global climate warm.

Obviously, this is nonsense. The methane released during the growth of rice is far less than that of cattle and pigs, and it can't be compared with fossil fuels.

The main purpose of making a fuss about rice in the United States is to financialize rice and try to shake China's grain base.

If the grain is financialized, we can manipulate the futures in the international market to control its price rise and fall, and then we can control the grain pricing power of a country, and then control the grain of that country. China nature won't be fooled again.

In 20021year, the rice planting area in China was 2992 1 10,000 hectares, and the output reached 265.438+100 million tons.

At the same time, China also pays attention to the research of improved rice varieties, and has been paying attention to variety improvement for many years, producing varieties with strong disease resistance and lodging resistance. The highest yield of hybrid rice reached 2653.54 Jin, which made the safety of rice firmly grasped.

In fact, since 2020, the price of rice in the United States has soared by more than 60%, from 1 1.22 dollars to 18. 16 dollars, but it has little impact on China, and the dream of rice financialization in the United States has been dashed.

03. How to break the seed?

Although China has the upper hand in the field of rice, it still needs to guard against the crisis of seed industry.

Although seeds are just humble things, they are as important as chips in agriculture.

Although China is a big agricultural country, it is not a strong agricultural country, and this fundamental difference lies in that it has no advantage in seeds, the commodity rate of crops is not high, and many vegetables and fruit seeds such as potatoes, tomatoes and peppers depend on imports.

According to statistics, the cumulative output value of seed enterprises in China is not as high as17 of Monsanto in the United States, while the share of foreign seeds in Shouguang, a vegetable base, is as high as 80%.

However, now the country realizes the importance of seeds. In recent years, it has also proposed a seed revolution, increased funds, encouraged enterprises to innovate, and decided to vigorously turn to the research field of genetically modified crops. I believe that it won't be long before the victory in the field of seeds can be realized.
