Because he couldn't find a counterpart job later, he switched from a translation position in the public security organ to a job in Shanghai International Trust and Investment Company. He has served as assistant manager and deputy manager, and was sent to the Free University of Brussels, Belgium for further study, becoming a master of law and business administration.

He is also the executive director of the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce and the deputy director of the Shanghai Federation of Industry and Commerce, and is employed as an adjunct professor by Fudan University, Tongji University and Shanghai University of Finance and Economics.

In 2003, he was released on parole in an old house between Yishan Road and Hua Ting Hotel in Xuhui District. Previously, he served seven years in Shanghai Tilanqiao Prison.

On June 6, 20 15, Guan Jinsheng delivered a speech at the Internet Plus Financial Investment Summit Forum, and publicly talked about his experiences and lessons in the "327" treasury bond futures incident for the first time.
