The rare earth elements are lanthanides (15 element) and yttrium scandium, a total of 17 element. 17 elements are Lanthanum (la), Cerium (ce), PraseoDymium (pr), neodymium (Nd), samarium (Pm), Europium (eu), gadolinium (Gd), terbium (Tb) and dysprosium (dy).
Rare earth elements belong to group iiib elements in the periodic table. Because of the similarity of atomic structures, they show similar properties.
Rare earth luminescent materials have many advantages: strong absorption capacity, high conversion efficiency, and can emit spectrum from ultraviolet to infrared light, especially in the visible region.
Rare earth materials also have the characteristics of emitting different colors of light after being excited by ultraviolet light. Rare earth elements are widely used. Nowadays, rare earth luminescent materials have been widely used in display, imaging, new light source, X-ray intensifying screen and other fields. At present, China's proven rare earth reserves rank first in the world.
