Xinjiang University, referred to as "Xinda", is located in Urumqi, the capital of Xinjiang. In 20 12, the school was listed as the national "comprehensive strength improvement project for universities in the central and western regions". In 20 17, it entered the ranks of the first batch of 42 first-class universities in China. In 20 18, it was determined by the Ministry of Education and the People's Government of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region as a "co-built" university.

Xinjiang University has three campuses: Honghu Campus, Youhao Campus and Boda Campus. Among them, Boda Campus, located in Hemaquan New District of Shuimogou District, officially opened on 202 1 and 10, covering an area of 3,709 mu.

The library is the provincial center of China's higher education document guarantee system (CALIS), with a total of 3.465 million books and documents. The campus network, CERNET Xinjiang main node, Xinjiang education regional network control center and Urumqi education metropolitan area network have been built. In the past three years, Xinjiang University has spent an average of 233 million yuan on scientific research, undertaking 25 major key projects such as scientific research projects 1495, national key R&D projects, national natural science foundation-Xinjiang joint fund key projects and national social science fund major bidding projects, and undertaking 759 horizontal projects entrusted by enterprises and institutions, including 39 horizontal projects with a million yuan or more.
