Qiniu Cloud CEO Xu Shiwei: Small and medium-sized manufacturers must have a clear positioning to participate in the IaaS market competition

Competition in the cloud computing market is fierce, and the industrial Internet has become the direction of efforts of various companies.

In this process, some manufacturers are trying to clarify their positioning, expand their business from their original products, and seize opportunities in vertical industries.

From the enterprise-level cloud storage platform of 1.0 to the one-stop data management platform of 2.0, to the "cloud + data" integrated PaaS platform of 3.0, Qiniu Cloud, a ten-year-old cloud computing and data service provider, has experienced several

Changes in business development.

"We have also tried to make our boundaries bigger, but in fact, your product should not become more in order to be closer to users. This is something that needs restraint." In an interview with Interface News and other media

In an exclusive interview, Qiniuyun CEO Xu Shiwei mentioned that they had also taken some detours in the past.

The first product launched by Qiniu Cloud was called "Qiniu Cloud Storage". Later, it started with live broadcast products and developed an overall "video cloud" solution.

Currently, its main business includes one-stop cloud services including cloud storage, video cloud, machine data analysis platform, etc.

Recently, the company released the strategic positioning of the "cloud + data" integrated PaaS platform, and plans to accelerate the digital transformation of the industry in finance, automobiles, new retail, industrial manufacturing and other fields.

Xu Shiwei believes that the cloud computing market competition has entered a "deep water zone" and there are many opportunities in the industrial Internet. Therefore, Qiniu Cloud has chosen to embrace "videoization" and "industrial digitization."

But from the perspective of digital transformation on the industry side, this process does not happen overnight.

More importantly, the cloud computing market is highly competitive, and small and medium-sized manufacturers face considerable challenges.

According to data from market research organization Canalys, in the third quarter of 2021, cloud computing infrastructure service expenditures in the Chinese mainland market increased by 43% year-on-year, reaching US$7.2 billion.

Among them, Alibaba Cloud ranked first with a share of 38.3%, Huawei Cloud and Tencent Cloud ranked second and third respectively.

Regarding how small and medium-sized manufacturers can participate in competition, Xu Shiwei said in the interview that it is very important to have a clear positioning.

He believes that mainstream IaaS vendors such as Alibaba Cloud provide hundreds of products and out-of-the-box capabilities. As a PaaS vendor, Qiniu Cloud provides integrated products that are closer to users.

.

This is the core difference in his opinion.

"The competition among upstream IaaS vendors is very conducive to the optimization of the supply chain of our PaaS vendors. This is a competitive relationship." As for the competition in the PaaS market, Xu Shiwei's view is that Qiniu Cloud works based on the data management platform and competes with its friends.

Different than positioning.

At present, Qiniu Cloud has achieved service deployment for millions of customers.

Information from Tianyancha shows that in June 2020, Qiniu Cloud completed a RMB 1 billion Series F financing, co-invested by China State-owned Enterprise Structural Adjustment Fund, Bank of Communications International, and Hongzhao Fund.

Previously, the company had received 1 billion yuan in Series E financing led by Alibaba and Yunfeng Fund.
