Founded in 2005, MBK Partnership Fund is the first large-scale independent direct investment fund focusing on East Asia (Greater China, Japan and South Korea). Founded by six core members of Carlyle Group in Greater China, South Korea and Japan, headed by Michael B. Kim, former president of Carlyle Group. The six core members of Amboke once represented their old club Carlyle as the core members of the acquisition projects such as Pacific Life Insurance, Baotu International Holdings, Pacific Department Store, Taiwan Province Broadband Communication, Hanmei Bank and Japanese Willcom Company.
