Human Development Index Ranking 2020

The Human Development Index (HDI) was created by the United Nations Development Program to measure the development level of various countries and regions. It has been released annually since 1990.

HDI combines economic indicators with social indicators and puts more emphasis on human development rather than just economic conditions.

It uses some relatively easy-to-obtain data and scientific calculation methods to comprehensively, stably and objectively reflect the problems of different countries and regions.

Its three basic indicators are: life expectancy, education level, and quality of life.

Presented below is the latest 2020 Human Development Index report, covering 189 countries and regions.

This version is based on the original version and is specially marked in Chinese for everyone's convenience.

Generally, countries and regions with a performance above 0.8 are considered to have extremely high human development index.

The Nordic country Norway has occupied the first position for many years, and Hong Kong, our country, has always been very high, ranking fourth this time.

Overall, most of the countries with extremely high human development index are European and American, especially among the top 30, except for Hong Kong, Japan, South Korea, Singapore, and Israel, all are European and American countries.

In addition, certain countries in South America and the Middle East are very impressive.

Mauritius in Africa is the only country in Africa that has entered a very high development index.

Countries and regions with high human development index are 0.7 to 0.8.

This time, my country ranked 85th, with no change from the previous year's ranking. The specific value increased from 0.758 to 0.761.

Looking at the data over the years, we have been on a steady rise.

0.55 to 0.7 are countries and regions with a medium human development index.

These countries become increasingly rare as they go forward, and you may not have heard of many places.

Among them, India, which we are familiar with, ranks 131st, Pakistan ranks 154th, and Syria, which has been war-torn for many years, is not at the bottom and still ranks 151st.

There are 34 countries and regions with low human development index below 0.55.

Except for Afghanistan and Haiti, all of them are African countries. Most of these places are unstable and have constant conflicts.

HDI uses very intuitive data to provide guidance and reference for various countries on development policies and strategies.

In addition, the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund will also use this to determine aid to developing countries.
