According to statistics, India’s military investment last year was as high as 66.5 billion U.S. dollars. Even Russia, a major military power, only spent 61.4 billion U.S. dollars. Therefore, India's current military strength is built with money.
Although the military expenditures of the two countries are similar, Russia has to cut back on food and clothing for the sake of military expenditures. But India seems to have no impact at all and is still buying weapons all over the world. Russia's national power is obviously stronger than India's, and its military investment is not as large as India's. Why is it only Russia that ends up scrimping on food and clothes?
In fact, this is related to the military background of the two countries. Although India was once a British colony, the country's heavy industrial base was very backward. Therefore, India’s independently developed weapons are almost zero. Therefore, India has saved a lot of money in weapons research and development.
The weapons purchased by India all come with warranty services, and these services are also included in the cost of purchasing weapons. As long as it's broken, you don't have to do anything yourself, just contact the seller directly to come and fix it. Therefore, buying weapons in India is more expensive than other countries.
But Russia is different. Russia has a complete industrial system. Every year Russia invests a lot of money in weapons research and development. Many times, Russian money is not used to buy weapons, but to engage in research and development.
Russia also has a money-burning weapons arsenal. Russia currently has more than 6,000 nuclear warheads. Just maintaining these nuclear warheads can burn a large amount of military expenditures. There are very few funds used to purchase weapons and research and development.
So Russia has to be frugal, and its military investment is only used to build the army. India does not have the trouble of research and development, so when it comes to buying weapons, it is naturally lavish.
Judging from India’s firepower, there is indeed nothing wrong with being ranked fourth in the world, and it really comes down to a fight. Is there really a fourth level of strength? I'm afraid not necessarily. What do you think of this? Welcome to leave a message in the comment area.
